So Emery watched a cowboy movie the other day and was obsessed with it. She keeps sitting on the couch arm rest saying, "woo hoo I am riding a cowboy! woohoo" HAHAHAHAHA I said, "Oh no honey, you mean you ARE a cowboy riding a horse!!" She says, "No mama, I am riding a cowboy woohoo" This girls kills me. She is so cute haha

Emery is getting to be lots of fun. We have had a great start to our new year! We went to Arizona for New Years. Emery loved Aunt and Uncle Demarie. The backyard has a pond with fish and ducks that she just LOVED. She also has a crush on Uncle Phil like most ladies and invited Phil home. haha "Want to come to my house?" she said. Emery really likes boys. I am shocked and she def doesn't get that from me ;) We have had lots of fun going to museums and getting ice cream. Emery stole my favorite ice cream from me...peppermint....and had it been any other soul on earth I would have made her give it right back haha. But...who can resist that smile. We are still working on potty training. She is doing great but we aren't quite out of diapers yet. Emery is so smart. She says things sometimes that I can't believe come out of her mouth. She knows plurals. Like ya know...plurals! The difference between mice and mouse! wow. I am going to try and get her into a really good preschool this year. I am a little nervous cause she is timid around other kids. Sometimes we will go to the mall and she won't play on the treehouse cause " There are too many kids mama." I took her to Kangaroo Zoo the other day (warehouse full of bouncy houses) and this little boy was just lovin on her. He would follow her everywhere and tried to grab her hand and pull her in different directions. She pulled on my leg and I bent down and she said, "Mama he is annoying!" HAHAHAHAHA Insane...She is only 2! I died laughing. I love that little girl....

Emery is getting so grown up and says the funniest things. She has said so many funny things and I always forget to write them down so I thought I would tell this story before I forget. Yesterday my darling little cousin married the man of her dreams in the Bountiful Temple. Emery and I sat in the waiting room and talked while we waited for the others to come out. We talked about the temple etc. Then when we were driving over to the luncheon Nana said, "Emery, Kara got married in the temple!! Isn't that cool?" Grandpa said, "Yeah and now they get to go on honeymoon!" Emery said, "and then they fight?" hahahaha Seriously, the whole car started laughing.
Emery loves stories. She loves stories about EVERYTHING and is constantly saying, "Tell me a story about a nice monster. Tell me a story about a mean dog that lives under the deck. Tell me a story about Captain Hook." Well on our way to the reception Emery said, "Tell me a story about Captain Hook in the Temple." We were dying laughin!! She is so precious.

I recently got back from doing another Humanitarian Medical Mission with the organization I volunteer for. What an AMAZING and challenging experience. I feel so blessed to be able to go and help a little. These people are beautiful and gracious. I always come back with a new sense of humility when I do these trips. Although I don't have much, it is so much more than many. I am so grateful for the most amazing parents who watched my daughter so I could go. They are the most amazing people in the world and I feel so lucky to have them. Feeling beyond blessed today.

Halloween was so much fun this year!!! I dressed up as a flapper and Dan was a gangster. We had a big fun group go out for dinner and parties. I LOVED it!! Emery thoroughly enjoyed her trick or treating experience. She, however, was not feeling the saying, "trick or treat" hahaha she kept saying, " I will take 1 candy please" every time someone came to the door. It was so adorable. She wanted me to carry her from house to house. She kept saying, "Ryry's feet are tired, carry her." haha How can you resist. She got tons of candy and knew exactly what she liked. At one house she grabbed a tootsie roll and then said, "Wait, wait I want that one!" and threw back the tootsie roll and got dots. She is getting so big. She is a little girl now not a baby!! I am having so much fun with her though, minus the terrible 2 tantrums. Can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings :) xoxo

Emery is turning 2 on Thursday. I can't believe how fast time has gone. She is at the funnest age ever!! She is saying the cutest things. This morning she crawled into bed with me and started petting my hair and said, "Mommy time to wake up, it's 1:30 o'clock. Time to get out of bed." haha I couldn't help but just smile. Last night when I was putting her down she wrapped both hands around my neck and said, "You are my best friend. I don't hurt, I don't bite, I don't hit. Best friends!" Then today I took her on a walk after church in her little wagon. She has this blow up dora doll that she just loves and she was hugging it and said, " Dora is my best friend." I said, "What about mommy?" She said, "NO, just Dora." Then later on the walk she was holding on to Dora's head and dragging Dora's feet on the concrete. I said, "Baby don't drag Dora's feet, she will pop. Don't drag her feet cause you will hurt Dora." She keeps dragging her feet and said, "It's ok mommy the doctor will fix her feet." Crazy how much they learn in such a short time period. I feel so blessed to have her. We are planning a birthday party for her Thursday and she is so excited. She keeps talking about HER party. Love her.

So Emery has had quite the week! and SO HAVE I! As for Emery, She is starting to go peepee in the potty haha. It is so funny cause I have tried to get her to go in the potty FOREVER. Then one day out of the blue she was running around naked in the living room. Then all of a sudden she jumps up, runs past me yelling "I gotta hurry, gotta hurry!" She runs into the bathroom and went in her little girl potty. I was shocked haha and super excited so we started rewarding her now and she goes every day now. The only catch is if she isn't naked or only in little panties then she pees her pants. Today I had her all dressed and we were outside playing in the sandbox and kept telling her to let me know if she has to go potty. When we were all done we went inside and then she peed in her pants. I think she forgets she doesn't have a diaper on...gotta work on that :) She also got in big big trouble with the pens and crayons. She grabbed a pen and drew on the wall. I grabbed the pen and said NO NO and threw it back up on the counter and turned to get a magic eraser to get it off. Well while I was turned around she must have grabbed the pen again and walked into the living room. While I was scrubbing the wall I turned to look at her and screamed in horror!!!! She had written in pen all over our huge TV projector screen. I couldn't believe it. It was grandpas worst nightmare come true. I had her go to the corner and I asked her what she did wrong and she knew..."I colored on the wall." sigh. I scrubbed for hours and it lightened but still isn't off. Then the very next night she did the same thing with a green crayon when I turned my back for one second. luckily that came right off. She is really testing her limits lately haha.

I had a rough week. I got my tonsils out. People warned me it was bad but I didn't fully believe then. Worst pain EVER!!! I was down for literally 9 days. Out of service for 9 whole days. I still don't feel good but I had to go back to work. I can't believe it is so brutal. Hopefully when I get better and stop having persistent sore throats I will be glad I did it :)

I literally can't believe how fast Emery is growing up. As we walked into church today I listened to her just gab and gab I just thought, " Wow, where has my baby gone!?" Heather just did this photo shoot. I absolutely love the pics. She totally captured Emery's little personality. Love it! This day was so stressful though! I hurried home from work tried to get her hair all done and hurry to meet Heather. Then I turned around for 1 second and saw she had my bright red lipstick stain and had colored all over the wall and her face too! She got it all over her right eye and I couldn't get it off. haha Heather did a good job trying to photoshop it off but you can still see a little bit. So funny! On a side note, today Emery has been counting in spanish and last night she said, "buenas noches mommy" which is "goodnight" I think. hahaha Can we say she is watching a little too much Dora the Explorer!!! Can't believe she turns 2 next month. I feel like the luckiest person in the world to have her. If I never do another thing in this world other than bring her to this earth and be her mother...I have already succeeded. She is a special little girl. xoxoxo

Took my sweetie to Park City. I was hoping to take her on alpine slides but she was still just a tad too small. BUT....she loves the "mewwee go wound" as she likes to say. She is so much fun. I am still amazed at how much she has learned so fast. She can have full on conversations wtith me, tell me stories "once pon time, this girl named RyRy, bit by mean dog." haha she always makes me tell her stories about mean dogs or Lake Powell and then she tells me the story right back. It is the cutest thing. She can sing all her ABC's (ok so for some reason she always skip 1 or 2 letters.) She is starting to learn about Jesus and God. I say, " who is Jesus" and She says " Jesus friend, Jesus loves you." She LOVES storms. We will just open the back door and lay on our tummies on the carpet and watch the "funder!!" and "light-ing" "ooooh scary!" she always says. I scored. I totally scored with this little girl. Honestly, I feel so very proud to be her mama. She is such a sweet little girl. Sweet but sassy. Have you ever seen those sour patch commercials where the sour patch kid cuts off that little girls hair and then feels bad and hugs the little girl and then the commercial says "First they are sour and then sweet." haha Emery is like that. She will full on pull my hair and then kiss it better. I can't help but laugh at how cute it is so I could never get mad! Her new thing now is " Go in corner mama." She will say it over everything. If I am making her do something she doesn't want to do like change a full diaper she will get mad and point to the corner and say "Corner MAMA!" I have had to discipline her a couple times and send her to the corner which she HATES but she is one smart little girl. She learned after that happening 2 times. Now when she is bein naughty like throwing her food all I say is, " Ok babe let's go to the corner!" and she says "NO, sorry! Sorry!!" adorable. I can't believe she will be 2 in less than 2 months. I am so grateful for her. Even when I am so overwhelmed and feel frustrated and tired I just look at her little smile and she makes everything better. am so lucky!
My bestie Heather and I went to Tim McGraw the other night. It is so much fun to hang out with her without our kiddos once in awhile. We always are talking about diapers and potty training and all the other kid stuff but it was such a blast to talk about adult things. I actually heard some funny stories from her I have never heard. haha Love her to death!!

Today I took Emery to the park to play on the playground. On the way I picked up some chicken nuggets and fries. We got to the park and she had hardly eaten and was SO excited to go down the slides. I told her she had to eat her whole chicken nugget first. She said, " Mooooommmm NOoooo!" Then I said, " Come on babe just eat 1 chicken nugget. Put the whole chicken nugget in your tummy and then we can play." She then lifts her shirt up puts the chicken nugget under her shirt adn says, "Play now!!" hahahaha I died laughing. Smart little thing.

Emery is getting to that really fun age. Really fun and REALLY hard too haha. She is so smart. She has been counting to 15, can say most of her ABC's and is singing. She is talking so much and is saying the cutest things. Yesterday I put her in her high chair to eat and I just looked and her sweet little face and said, " Emery you are so cute." She then said, " NO mama, you are cute." haha so funny. Then today she was out in the pool in the backyard with Grandpa and I walked out there and could see her little teeth chattering and she was shaking and I said, " Emery honey are you cold?!" knowing she would have to get out of the pool she looked and me with her chattering teeth and said, " Not cold mama, nice and warm." She just melts my heart. haha What in the world did I do to be so lucky.

I normally don't post things about certain topics in my life and believe me I won't go in to detail but I couldn't contain my happiness today. Today was the day I found out that my little angel on earth is all mine. I have been working so long and hard for a couple years to make sure that Emery has a stable home with only me. I have been blessed. I have so much to be thankful for and although it is a bittersweet moment it is a sweet moment nonetheless. So many of you have had a hand in making this day possible. So many of you have sent me sweet messages of encouragement. So many of you have kept me and Emery in your prayers and they have been answered today. I am so lucky to have my parents. They have been with me every step of the way. They have helped make this possible and I owe them my life. Thank you all. I am officially the happiest girl alive to be Emery's mommy.

April was a big month! Easter was a blast! Emery loved coloring eggs and finding them after the easter bunny or "raabitt!" as she calls it hid them haha We also enjoyed having uncle Deven in town for Dereks wedding. We sure wish he could have stayed longer!!

Emery is growing up so very fast. She is talking like CRAZY. She is a very bright little gal. She can count to 10, she knows all her animals and the noises they make and can pretty much understand and repeat anything we say. Which also means she knows more of what she wants and has been throwing tantrums lately when she doesnt get what she wants!! She has an obsession with being outside and playing with the neighbor dogs. She wants to go outside even when it snows!! We have had fun going to the park and going on walks since the sun has been shining a little more. I am assured that she will thoroughly enjoy herself at Lake Powell this summer with papa's new boat.

Emery has been taking swimming lessons. It is hard cause we take her every morning at 8am and the lessons are 10 minutes long. They are hard to watch cause she cries the whole time but has been doing very well. She loves her swim teacher too! and it is so cute cause the first day she went I said, "Emery!! You are AWESOME!!" after she got done and now she says RyRy(that is her nickname) awesome! haha so cute.

How could I have ever know how much this little soul would bless and change my life. I can't put in words how much I love her. When I have a hard day or something is stressing me out one kiss from her can turn it all around.

How do you even express in words what you feel for your own child. This is my whole heart. I love this girl more than life and it just gets deeper. She is growing so fast and is really starting to get a personality! She is super sassy and I love it! She is so smart too! She can already count to 5!!! So yesterday Emery was in the bathtub playing and I was just sitting down on the floor outside the tub playing with her. She started to try to climb out of the tub on this ledge in the tub and kept saying "No no Emery, NO NO" but of course she doesn't listen to the word NO and just kept doing it! I then said jokingly, " NO NO baby I am going to spank your bum bum" (of course we all Know that would never happen haha) and it was so cute she got a big smile on her face and started to spank her own bum. I could not stop laughing! How adorable. I swear I just can't get enough of her.

We had a great Christmas!!!!!!!!!!! Emery was finally old enough to enjoy it but really all she wanted to play with was her slide haha! We made Grandpa cry when he got his book titled "Grandpa and Emery" which was the whole last year or pics of just the 2 of them having fun, dancing in the living room, playin outside, at Lake Powell etc. Emery is VERY lucky to have him! He adores her! We also got to go to Ifly!! It was such a rush! I loved it! Mom was so funny! Her faced looked terrified the ENTIRE time!!! haha but she liked it! Couldn't ask for a better Christmas!

Oh....AND I WON A CAR!!!!!!!!!!! ON CONAN O'BRIEN!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was entering his daily giveaways for Christmas and was the final winner of a 2011 Chevy Cruze! How cool is that!?

Fall Fun!

We had so much fun on Halloween. The weather was bad but we at least went to a couple houses to trick or treat and went to the Ward Halloween party. Emery was my cute little lady bug! Most little one year olds would get so scared at Halloween with witches and loud screams etc but not my little Emery! She even went to a haunted house at the church with darkness, loud noise, screaming, people jumping out at you and she didn't even cry one time! She is definitely my child. I love scary movies, haunted houses etc I LOVE Halloween. She is getting so fun! and SO sassy! She has a mind of her own and knows exactly what she wants. She is starting to say lots of words like more, moon, turtles, grmpa, nana, mama and more. She is so funny cause she hates to have her clothes or diapers changed. She would rather sit in a stinky than have me change her diaper. Literally she SCREAMS at the top of her lungs every time we change her. It is so sad but it is funny. She is such a smart little girl but for some reason she can't grasp that if she will just let me hurry and do it it will be over! She is such a lover too. Every morning when we wake up she pats me on the face and leans in and gives me the biggest smack kiss ever! I love it! She shares so good too! If she has something, even if it is a smooshed half eaten banana, she wants to give it to you! haha She loves to be outside. I don't know what I am going to do when winter comes! Anyway, life is good. Better than it has ever been. She has brought the life back into me and it is so much fun! HARD but fun! It is hard to even remember what life was like before her haha. Boring! :)

Emery's 1st Birthday BASH!!!

So Emery turned 1 yesterday!!! I can't believe my baby is growing up so fast! What a year....what a year....definitely highs and lows ( mostly highs :)) but it is so rewarding to watch her change and learn and grow. I am so lucky. Just plain lucky to get to be her mom. I know I went a little ( ok a LOT) overboard on her first birthday but I was just so excited and wanted her to look back someday and see how much we all just adore her! I am so glad it is over though haha! What a headache! I told everyone that she will be lucky if she even gets a cake for her second birthday! :) Well I can't wait to see what the next year brings. I am sure it will be just as challenging and this year but I say bring it on! We have made it so far (with the extreme help of Nana and Grandpa) and we are doing just fine. Happy! :) xoxoxoxo

My baby girl will be 1 year old in just a matter of days and I can't believe how fast time has flown! This year trumps any other year of my life. I am blessed. Her smiles and loves make the challenging times completely worth it! She is my little angel here on earth! She is walking now. She is so so so smart. If you put toys in front of her she moves them to go get her books. She LOVES books. If she is fussy we just sit with her and start to read a book and she calms right down. Her first word was horse but I actually think it was ball. She hasn't said horse again but says ball all the time haha. She says Mama and grandpa thinks she says " grmpa" but I am not so sure of that haha. She loves to go on walks and pretty much do anything outside. She has the sweetest little personality. She is actually addicting to be around! She has started to mimic us a lot! That means it is time to be VERY careful what I say and do! haha :) She gets her way all the time. I promised I wouldn't be that parent that gives in but how do you not! She is so sassy! haha She is definitely going to give me a run for my money and people always tell me I deserve a kid just like me...well I got one! Stubborn as can be even at 1 year old!!! She loves to sleep in my bed. I try every single night to put her in her own bed but sure enough at about midnight she is crying and the second I pick her up and put her in bed with me she snuggles up to me and goes right back to sleep. Selfishly I love it. My heart is just stuffed so full I can't imagine every having room for anything else :) Heather just took this new 1 year pics of Emery. Heather is such an incredible photographer! If anyone needs pics then she is your girl!! I have been planning a huge first birthday party for Emery. I know she probably won't even know what is going on but I couldn't help it! I can't wait!!! Anyway, off to bed!

Is it possible to even explain how much I love this little girl!!?? She was so cute at the bees game!! Everyone loved her little bee outfit. She loved feeding Nana cotton candy and loved stealing Grandpa's baseball cap. It was so funny when we went to try to take a picture next to the huge bee. She started to FREAK OUT and jump out of my arms to get away from this huge bee. I could not stop laughing all night.......guess she won't like Santa either :)

Sorry I have been bad at posting....it just takes so much time that I don't have!!! Emery and I have had lots of fun together! I took her to the Days of 47 Rodeo on Saturday and she loved it!!!! She is such an animal lover....I think we ALMOST have grandpa talked into getting a dog....and not cause I keep asking him but EVERYTIME Emery sees a puppy she gets a huge smile on her face and just giggles. Grandpa loves when she does that and is probably going to change his "wait until she is 3" rule! I can't believe she is tens months old already. It has gone by so fast and yet so slow haha! stay posted for details on her huge 1st birthday party! I know it is probably ridiculous to throw a 1 year old a huge party but it is her VERY FIRST BIRTHDAY! How can I not??? p.s. B-days are expensive....I have already spent over $100 getting stuff for it and I basically have nothing.....what have I gotten myself involved in?! On a funny note.....Emery is a criminal genius....I mean CRIMINAL GENIUS!!! and what I mean by that is she already at 10 months old knows how to trick her mama. The other day we were outside playing with rocks. She had a rock in her left hand and a rock in her right hand. She kept trying to eat the rock in her right hand. Over and over again she would lift it up to her mouth and open wide only to have me hurry and block it and say, "No no baby girl!" I wanted to see how long she would do it so I didn't take the rock away ( not to mention she would freak out if I took it away, she throws tantrums at 10 months! I am in so much trouble!) So after a few minutes of me saying no she got this huge grin on her face and stuck her arm out with the rock towards me like she was going to share. I stupidly went for it and grabbed the rock and as fast as lightening she hurried and stuck the rock in her left hand in her mouth!!!!! She full on tricked me into grabbing the rock so my hand would be busy enough for her to eat the other rock......CRIMINAL GENIUS! hahaha I can't stop laughing that she did that. So funny but I am going to have my hands full....like I already do!

Emery and I have been having a blast so far this summer. We spent a few days in Lake Powell. She LOVED it! Ok not so much the cold water. I would stand her up in just a few inches of water and she would pick one foot up out of the water and look at me like...."Please mom pick me up this sucks." haha She also hated her lifevest. I don't blame her. They make them so crappy for little babies. But She would stop crying the second the boat started going fast. She loved it! We also took a long boat ride to Rainbow Bridge and hiked up. It has been years since I have been there. I love Lake Powell. My Heaven on Earth. I was pretty bummed that I didn't get to go last year. It was the first time in my entire life that I didn't make it down at least once during the summer. but duty calls and I had to save my time off for maternity leave. So....It was so great to enjoy Powell again and this time with my little angel. Deven and his family are in town. I miss them tons and love having them around. Emery LOVES Gracie and Dylan (except for when he pulls her hair and smacks her on the top of her head haha) and loves having little friends to play with. Tonight we all went to the Utah Arts Festival in Salt Lake. I have to admit....I miss living in Salt Lake. It is so much fun and there are always fun things going on. I met up with Lisa also. It is so much fun to spend time with friends I don't get to see very much and the festival is perfect! Live bands, food, face painting...the works. I love summer!!!!!!!!!!!

I love being a Mom. Never in a million years would I change it but I am not going to lie....sometimes is can be pretty overwhelming! Between working all day, rushing home right after work to be with her as much as I can and getting up with her at night (she has been getting up 2 or 3 times again! ahhh! stupid teeth!) it can really feel like you are going to break sometimes!!! She has been teething and is getting over a cold but I swear she has been throwing tantrums! at 8 months!!??? I didn't even know that was possible!!! Sunday was particularly a hard day. The ENTIRE day she was fussing, whining, squirming, and throwing tantrums. She is so funny. She wants EVERYTHING she isn't supposed to have. she has ten million toys all over the place and what does she want?! She wants the fireplace, all the wires behind the TV, the channel changers...pretty much anything we say no to she wants! And to top it off...She starts kicking her legs, throwing her arms up and down and screaming when she doesn't get them! Wow! Can a kid know what they are doing at 8 months!? She has also been getting mad when I change her diaper. The second I take her diaper off she flips her body over and starts crawling away from me as fast as she can! I literally have to hold her down or tickle her side to keep her from running away. What a little pill! It is so funny cause she was so calm and chill when she was smaller. My Mom always said it wasn't fair and that I was probably going to have some perfect child that obeyed and did everything she was supposed to when I deserved the opposite! I deserved a stubborn little independent devil like I was! When I was like 5 years old my Mom wanted to take me to Kindergarten and I was like, " Uhhh no MOM! I can get there myself! I can ride the bus and I don't want you to take me!" hahaha I laugh so hard because my stubborn self showed even at 5 years old!!! Well, she is laughing now because we all think now that Emery is surely going to give me a run for my money. She is already so stinkin stubborn!!! But I love it! I love having a little bit of sass now and then and think it is adorable! I love that she is learning so much! She just gets so focused on things and it makes me so happy to see her growing and thriving! And as hard as she has been lately and as stressed out as I have been ( sorry to any of you who have had to deal with my stress levels! I feel bad that sometimes i get overwhelmed and shut people out or put pressure on people I am just trying to focus on my angel and getting through some of these hard stages but I promise I will make it up to you :)) I love having a spitfire! :) I didn't think I could love this much....I almost feel like my heart is so full that there is no room for anything else! I know that isn't true but I just love her more each day and it is so great being her mommy. I met another little 2 year old girl today named Emery....It made me smile to think that I am not the only one who fell in love with this name. It just fits her.... On a funny note.....Emery has been pooping in the bathtub!!!! The last 3 times I have bathed her she has pooped!!!! Gross!!! haha The first time it happened she was in her room and I took her clothes and diaper off and went into the bathroom to start the tub. When I came back to get her she had peed in 3 different spots in her room! (ok yeah I know...my bad for taking the diaper off too soon) Then I heard her grunt and I said OH NO! So I grabbed her and made it to her towel and she pooped all over the towel! I thought oh gosh well at least I am going to bathe her right now. She I got her in the tub and cleaned her off and we were almost done when she grunted again and explosion! all in the tub!!! What am I going to do with her!? :) :) :)

Emery and I have had so much fun lately!!! We went to the aquarium, the zoo, a walk up the canyon and we went to visit Grandpa's grave on Memorial Day to let him know how much we miss him and how grateful we are that he served our country! I am so proud to say he is my grandpa. Emery LOVED the zoo!!! ok, ok I think I probably enjoyed it more than her but she has just brought the life back into me! I feel like a little kid again and love doing fun things with her especially now that summer is here! I wish it was summer forever!! Maybe we need to move to Arizona! ;) Emery loved to monkeys the most. She just loves being outside. She is starting to do so many cute things! She is crawling like crazy....I have a hard time changing her diaper cause the SECOND I get her dirty diaper off she flips over and tries to crawl away from me as fast as she can! It is cute but frustrating!!!! haha She is pulling herself up and standing and walking alongside the couch. She is also starting to smile HUGE and when she does she crinkles her nose up a little. It is my favorite thing right now! I am so happy to have her in my life.....every hard time is worth it when I see that little smile. We are getting so excited to go to Lake Powell and we are so lucky cause Deven, Shirlyn, Gracie and Dylan will be coming with us!!! Emery is so excited to meet her cousins!!! I am sure they will have so much fun together!! Anyway, long day...off to bed :)

TJ and his fam spoiled me last night! They took me to the most AMAZING steak house...Flemings (ps this is my new favorite place! Yum!!!) and then we had second row Jazz/Laker playoff tickets and even though the Jazz lost....IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!! We had this dad and daughter sitting behind us (ummm he is our state attorney general haha) yelling crazy things the ENTIRE game and I couldn't stop laughing! I had the best time honestly! I don't get out much these days so I am so grateful to have been able to tag along with them!!! I am so lucky to have such great people in my life!

Ha Ha so today Emery was in the basement playing on her blanket with her toys. I opened a half eaten little can of these cinnamon puffs that she loves!!!!! I gave her a small handful so she could snack and went to check my emails for a sec just in the other room....when I came back she had crawled to the can, pulled the lid off (it was just laying on top on the can and not sealed tight) and poured the whole can out and had eaten the entire rest of the can in a matter of minutes!!!!!!!! Oh no babe.....She loves food a little too much! You can tell by her cute little thunder thighs hahahaha!

OH and she won second place in the Utah Valley Magazines cutest cuties contest for babies born in 2009! LOVE this little angel!!

Emery is growing up way too fast! She is starting to clap and play patty cake! She is grabbing and eating food with her own fingers! Yeah! This girl loves food! I mean everything! Even Green beans! She loves to dance with Grandpa....loves pretty much anything Grandpa does. The other day Emery and Grandpa played sidewalk chalk and wrote her name. Emery loves to play the game "Upside down baby!" For some reason she loves to be held upside down. When she cries we just turn her upside down and she starts laughing and just loves it! Silly little girl. She loves her new little jeep we got her. It makes noise and flashes lights. Most babies cry if something is too loud but with Emery the louder and crazier the noise the happier she gets! She is starting to become a momma's girl. She cries when anyone else tries to hold her...except Nana of course. Nana reads with Emery and she is learning so much! We celebrated my 29th birthday the other day and it was so fun to have Heather surprise me and meet for dinner. I love her to death and would die without her knowledge of babies to help me and my mom get by. She has taught us so much and she is such an amazing mommy!

Easter was a blast. I swear the Easter Bunny and Santa really spoil this girl......how can I ever compete with them :0

So Emery has grown up so much! She is such a good girl. The other day we put her in her jonny jumper and she just loves it! She was going crazy! I am so glad I captured it! She just had her 6 month visit and again is in the 98% for her height and weight. The doc said he isn't worried and he doesn't think she will be freakishly tall haha :) mommies worry about their little ones too much I think. She is so active! I mean I swear this little princess has A.D.D. She wants to be doing something different every second. It is so good for her and her learning but tiring on mommy and nana! Her little personality is really coming out. She is a happy girl. Loves loud noises especially when silly grandpa is acting like a loud monkey" ooohh oooh aaaah aaah!!!!!!" and waiving his arms around. She loves food! Loves carrots and green beans...not my child I swear! haha She has become quite the momma and nana's girl. She started to get a frowny face and cry when others try to hold her. Maybe we all baby her too much but we can't help it. We just can't stop loving on her. She is now sleeping in her big girl crib. I think she would have done fine in it a long time ago but it was harder for me to put her in her own room. I loved having her next to me :) She loves the outdoors. This girl calms right down after a crying fit when we take her outside. I love it! She will be my little buddy! she now has a tooth also. It has been bothering her for awhile now so I am glad it finally broke through. There is no greater joy than being Emery's momma. I had dinner with some friends the other night and they were asking about me and how life was and about being a mom. I told them its the best dumb thing I have ever done :) I don't even know how my life got to where it had gotten to but I am so grateful every day for her. I couldn't live without her anymore. Things have all changed for the better and I can't wait to be her momma forever!

Cancun

Mexico was the best trip ever!!! Emery loved the beach! She loved playing in the sand....and trying to eat the sand. I couldn't walk 2 feet without someone grabbing Emery and lovin on her! She was the talk of the hotel! ha. We did so many fun things like swim with dolphins, go to Chichen Itza, swim in a sink hole, rent a golf cart and cruise on the isla mujeres and so much more but the best part was just lounging on the beach! Nana loved the Mexican Michael Jackson impersonator....I had to laugh when he started talking like Michael with an accent hahaha! Emery loved the birds and the coconut ice cream almost as much as we did. What a great trip! I am so grateful I have such a wonderful family and such amazing parents. Emery and I would definitely not be able to enjoy things like this without them and their support! Can't wait for the next trip!

Sick little angel

Emery has been so sick. I was in instacare with her the last 2 nights. The first night we went they tested her for strep and it came back negative. They sent us home and told us if she still had the 102 fever for 3 days to come back. We went last night again because things just were not right. She was not her normal self. She wouldn't eat and was waking up every hour at night screaming for several nights straight. So last night we finally got word she probably has RSV. The doc we went to was kinda weird too. He literally spent 2 minutes with us. Super insensitive and rushed us out. I was so freaked cause as Nana and we were waiting for him Emery vomiting mucus and stopped breathing for like 5 seconds which to any mom is a lifetime!!!! Finally we asked the doc if we could go get her suctioned (thank goodness Heather came over earlier that day and told us about that or we would have left again without any help!) so we took her down to Utah Valley and poor Nana who is sick herself couldn't fathom the thought of watching Emery scream as she is getting suctioned. Nana went home and got Emery some pedialyte and Grandpa met me at the hospital to help. We took her up to 4th floor and got her ready. She was exhausted and had super red eyes, horrible cough and I was just crying. IT IS HORRIBLE TO BE HELPLESS WHEN YOUR CHILD IS SO SICK!!!! How do people handle it when their babies have really horrible things like cancer etc. I just can't understand how they deal with that. After we got her suctioned she was screaming and finally passed out in my arms. I took her right home and got her in bed. I have been using her carseat for her to sleep in so she is propped up a little and that seems to help. She finally slept more than 1 hour at a time but still is super sick. We are probably going to take her back to get suctioned again tonight. I hope my little sick princess gets better soon. I hate to see her hurting! I wish I could take it all away from her. Love you my baby girl!

Sorry it has been awhile since I last posted....busy as a bee! Emery is now holding up her own bottle, giggling on command, fussing when she doesn't get HER way, rolling over all the time. She is ALWAYS stickin her tonque out....I have pictures of her in the womb licking her umbilical cord, she came out with her tonque totally out licking the air(Nana thought something was wrong with her cause it was weird ha) and she loves to stick her tongue out when she smiles. She is so much fun! I love every second with her! We are getting ready to go to Cancun in about 3 weeks and I am so excited to share it with my babe....and fam :) I am sure I will have a 1000 pics after that trip...I bought her a bunch of new adorable swimsuits!

So Emery is now 4 months old and growing up so fast I can't even believe it! She is so much fun! I fed her real food for the first time the other day and she was so cute about it....spit up everywhere!! She is also starting to roll over all the time! In fact it is so funny cause she HATES to be on her stomach but I swear everytime I lay her on her back she rolls immediately to her stomach and then cries that she is on her stomach! haha just love her. We switched her formula the other day too. She used to be on soy and now is on some goodstart with probiotics. I can't even believe how expensive formula is!!!!! and I swear every time I switch the price of formula goes up by $5 per can. But she is worth every penny! She loves to stick everything in her mouth! I mean everything. When we try to take pictures she is trying to eat the camera. It is so cute! She LOVES music too. Anytime she is fussy we just put on some tunes and she stops right away. She loves when uncle Derek plays the guitar. We went to Vegas this past weekend for my Grandpas funeral. It was a really pretty funeral. It was really great to see family that I haven't seen in forever. I miss them so so so much and wished they lived closer. Vegas has sure changed for me :) Instead of staying out late playing til 4am I am waking up in a hotel with my baby at 4am!!! Emery wasn't feeling too well in Vegas so while my family went and enjoyed sin city...baby girl and I played rub the tummy better in the hotel :) I hate when she is sick. It makes me so sad that I can't take that away from her!! It is so amazing the love a parent can feel for their child and I learn more about it every day. I also learn to appreciate my family and parents more and more every day. I have the very best support system cheering me on and are always there to help me. I am so lucky. Emery is such a joy. I know I always just talk about her on her but she is really my entire life now! :)

I honestly can't believe my baby is 2 months old already! She is so amazing! I could not have been blessed with a more special little girl.....I keep saying actually Nana is the one that was blessed since she watches her in the day. Had it just been me all day I probably would have been sent a little sassy, independent little fussy girl like myself :) haha Emery is starting to smile when we googoogaga at her. Grandpa is usually the one she smiles at the most and he is smitten. It is so great to see him with her. He had a hard time with things before she was born and now can't imagine a life without her! So I love my job...no honestly, really love my job. There has never been a day where I haven't been excited to go to work. However, things sure change when you have a baby. This week marks my third week back to work full time. Full time away from Emery and I hate leaving her! And I still love my job but it kills me to leave her. I literally speed home from work every day, run from my car to my house, run upstairs and grab my baby and don't put her down the rest of the night. Of course I never get anything done by being gone to work all day and holding her all night but I can't help it. I miss her so much. I thought as the days went on it would get easier but it just gets harder. I am so grateful that she is with her Nana though. It makes me feel at ease to know she is being loved like I love her. Plus Nana reads books to her even though Emery has no clue what is going on :) She is going to be a smart little girl thanks to Nana. So, this post is titled Ode to the good men because I think any of you that have good men in your life that make it possible for you to stay home with your babies deserve some gratitude. Go home and kiss him and hug him and tell him how much you appreciate him!!! You are very lucky! I would give just about anything to be able to be with my baby all day every day!!!!!

So as I am laying on the beach with my baby in California I think of all the curve balls life is throwing at me every day but when I look at her I never forget that the only thing in life that matters is the ones we love and the ones that love us back and the rest is just stuff. My Dad looked at me holding Emery the other day and said, "Deena, I have never seen you so happy." I looked at him and smile and said, "I have never been this happy and isn't it funny since I have lost everything. I have lost my house, my near perfect credit score because of the short sale on the home, my social life, my dating life etc. I have lost my past....but have my future sitting right here on my lap so I have everything."

p.s. My baby smiled at me for real for the first time in California. I think she knew I needed to see her smile. :)

1- I love how when I feed her she acts like she is starving and scarfs her bottle down in seconds!
2- I love the noises she makes when she is eating...hmmmm ahhhh mmm :)
3- I love how she doesn't like a binky cause she knows she isn't getting any food so when I get her a bottle she just takes 2 sips and then just sucks the nipple without eating.
4- I love how soft her hair is and love to rub my cheek on her head.
5- I love her perfect little fingernails that I have to file almost every day cause they grow so fast.
6- I love the cowlick in the crown of her head that sticks straight up no matter how much I comb it.
7- I love how soft her skin is
8- I love how good she smells all the time.
9- I love how when she needs to toot she grunts really loud, squirms her body and frowns her brows.
10- I love how big her feet are for how tiny she is...maybe she will be tall!
11- I love how when I am holding her up on my shoulder and she is facing away from me how she struggles with her weak neck just to turn her head towards me.
12- I love when she lets me sleep...but love even more when she wakes me up so I can snuggle her all night long.

14- I love how she loves sleeping on her Nana's chest and looks so peaceful...it makes it a little easier for me when I go back to work to know how much she loves Nana.

16- I love how she sticks almost her entire fist in her mouth to let me know she is ready to eat.

So the day Emery was born some girl walked in my room with a camera and just picked Emery up and started posing her etc. I was like...who in the world is this lady that just walks in the room and picks up my little girl! haha She then started taking all these pics of her and they were so stinkin' cute! So she gave me back my baby and said to go to her website to buy the picture. I was excited until I found out it was $70!!!! for 1 dang picture!!!??? I was not going to buy it just for the fact I though it was crazy they can charge people so much! but it kept eating at me that I wasn't going to have a cute little picture of her the day she was born.....guess they know us new mothers are suckers and will pay the $70.....it was worth it...isn't she adorable!?

So 2 nights ago I had my first "oh yuck" moment! So Emery has a little tummy trouble. I started her off in the hospital with breast milk and supplement with similac advance. Each time I fed her her cheeks would turn rashy and red and she would throw up. So switched her to enfamil...same thing. I was starting to think she might be lactose intolerant so I switched her to similac soy which has been great so far. I only give her about 2-3 of those bottles and the rest breast milk. Well, not last night but the night before she woke up at 3am...fun for me....and had to biggest BM I have ever seen!!! I mean everywhere! All over her clothes, all over the blankets and bed, all over everything! I was so glad she had a BM but it was explosive! So I got her all cleaned up, new clothes, new blankets etc and started to feed her. she finished her bottle like an angel and I started to burp her. (Her tummy troubles require me to burp for like a half hour! and if I don't you better believe some throw up is coming!) So I have her laying facing me while I am burping her and not 2 seconds later she threw her entire bottle up and it went down my shirt, all down my pants, all over the bed!!!!! Gross!!!! and to make it worse she was still kinda choking so I had to finish burping it out so I was just sitting in it!! OH man the things we do for the ones we love :) She felt better and went right to sleep after. Love you Emery!

Emery was born on Tuesday 9/29/09 at 5:06 am She was a good size babe weighing 8 lbs 3 oz at 19 1/2 inches. She is such a good baby and sleeps all day! You would think I would get some sleep but I can't stop staring at her while she sleeps haha! Thanks for everyone who came to see me!
